Fun stuff for Friday

I love Friday. Everything seems to be slightly better and everyone tends to have a better attitude. Here in Colorado today is even suppose to be the warmest day of the week! The following tidbits are some fun things to share with your geek friends instead of pretending to work.

  • Commit Logs From Last Night has some outrageous commit messages and What the Commit helps you pick a random one for your next one character typo commit.

  • Twilio is pretty interesting and with their recent launch in the UK Richard Taylor has written an awesomely simple tutorial that uses Sinatra to create a call tree. Even cooler, Mike Szczys uses iPhone’s Siri to voice control his house by hacking the Arduino to receive text messages via Twilio.

  • Title Scream is an interesting site that catalogs the start screens for 8- and 16-bit video games. The title screens are even animated. Makes me want to start the NES emulator.

  • Apparently HarperCollins came across a fairly large collection of unpublished artwork from J.R.R. Tolkien while preparing the 75th anniversary edition of The Hobbit. The artwork is being published in a new book (via GeekDad).

As always, enjoy your Friday and have a great weekend.
